Owen gallops past Polk in WHC tussle

Owen denied Polk County’s bid to return to the .500 level, rolling to a 63-44 win Wednesday in Western Highlands Conference girls basketball action in Swannanoa.

The Wolverines dropped to 8-10, 3-5 with the loss. Owen snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 12-7, 4-3.

Hayley Kropp scored 25 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had five steals to lead Polk County. Autumn Owen had nine points and seven rebounds, Ansley Lynch had four points and seven rebounds, Kendall Hall scored four points and Alana Seay had two points for Polk.

The Wolverines remain on the road Friday for another conference game, visiting Avery.
