Kropp becomes Polk County’s all-time leading scorer

2 min read

The shot that Brandy Alm didn’t want her to take Tuesday night is the one that Hayley Kropp will never forget.

With a 3-pointer from the right wing that curled around the rim and in, Kropp became Polk County’s all-time leading scorer, male or female, passing the 1,601 points scored by Josh Twitty from 2005-2008.

The basket at the 5:19 mark of the fourth quarter in Polk County’s 59-37 win over Hendersonville also had two other record implications. The three was the 50th of the season for Kropp, breaking the previous mark of 49 set by Jennifer Ogle in 1995-1996, and the 100th 3-pointer of her career, matching the school mark held by Briana Cunningham.

Kropp finished the game with 34 points and now has 1,608 for her career.

“She deserves it,” said Alm, who said after the game that she at first didn’t want Kropp to take the 3-pointer at that time in the game. “She’s such a hard worker.

“She does what it takes to get us where we need to be to win games. She deserves every record she gets.”

PolkSports recently sat down with Kropp to talk about this season and her career. Look for that story later this week on PolkSports.com.
