Polk County dominated Chase from start to finish Wednesday night, building a 49-7 halftime lead en route to a 74-12 win in non-conference girls basketball action at Chase.

The Wolverines (2-0) opened the game with a 27-2 first quarter and never allowed Chase (0-2) to score more than five points in any period.

Freshman Autumn Owen had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Polk County, which also got 18 points and seven rebounds from Sarah Phipps, 14 points from Hayley Kropp and five points and eight assists from Kara Overholt.

Chase 64, Polk County 42
Daniel Freeman scored 23 points to lead three Chase players in double figures as the Trojans handed Polk County a 64-42 setback at Chase.

The Trojans (1-1) opened a 29-20 halftime lead and were able to pull away in the second half to drop Polk County to 0-2 on the season.

Jamal Wheeler scored 13 points to lead Polk County, with Jason Chupp and Daniel Painter each scoring nine.

Both teams return to action on Friday, traveling to Landrum for another non-conference clash.
