Polk County’s Sara Muse leads a fast break in a recent game

Polk County bounced back from Friday’s loss to Owen by avoiding another upset, downing Owen 48-41 in girls basketball action in Swannanoa.

The Warhorses (4-13, 0-6) crept to a 16-13 halftime lead, but Polk County (13-4, 4-3) roared back in the second half, pulling ahead in the fourth quarter and going 6-for-6 at the foul line in the period to seal the win.

Kristen Hall had 16 points and 14 rebounds to pace Polk County, with Olivia Overholt adding 13 points, five assists and five rebounds.

Marissa Twitty had eight points and seven rebounds, with Tori Thompson scoring five points. Sara Muse scored four points, with Emmie McDowell adding two.

The Wolverines continue action on Wednesday, taking a trip to Skyland to face T.C. Roberson in a non-conference matchup.
