East Henderson held off a late Polk County challenge Thursday to take a 27-25 victory in junior varsity girls basketball action at Polk.
The Eagles built an 11-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Polk County, in its season debut, cut the deficit to three at halftime. The Wolverines took the lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Eagles regained the upper hand and survived a Polk County shot at the buzzer that just missed.
Cate Brown had 14 points to lead Polk County, with Beiji Olivari scoring three. The Wolverines got two points each from Exziah Staley, Jill Brown and Honesty Jackson.

The Polk JVs are next slated to be in action on Dec. 3 as the Wolverines host Pisgah.
