Early burst propels Polk JV girls to victory

Polk County opened Wednesday with an 18-1 run and made that margin hold, defeating Brevard 43-25 in a girls junior varsity basketball battle at Polk.

The Wolverines (5-3) set the tone early with their dominant first-quarter run. The Blue Devils (0-5) largely kept pace the rest of the way but were unable to overcome Polk’s early advantage.

Sofie Abrahamsen led Polk County with 12 points, with Amiyah Waters scoring 10. Cate Brown and Beija Olivari each added six, while Exziah Staley scored four. Honesty Jackson and Jill Brown rounded out the scoring with three and two points, respectively.
