Defense propels Polk JV girls past Landrum

Polk County’s junior varsity pitched a first-quarter shutout Friday, setting the stage for a 25-17 victory at Landrum.

The Wolverines (2-2) took a 6-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 11-3 at halftime en route to securing their second straight win.

Amiyah Waters led Polk County with nine points, with Cate Brown adding eight. Sofie Abrahamsen chipped in four points.

Exziah Staley and Jill Brown each added two points for the Wolverines, who will next be in action on Tuesday, hosting Patton for a 4 p.m. battle.
