Defense, Garrett help drive Wolverines to victory at Rugby

Polk County Middle delivered a solid defensive effort Monday, keeping Rugby Middle in check en route to a 31-18 Blue Ridge Conference victory in Mills River.

The Wolverines (1-2) opened a 21-12 lead at halftime, then held the Raiders to just six points in the second half to secure their first win of the season.

Camdyn Israel-Garrett sparked Polk Middle’s offense with a season-high 16 points. Kenzie Alm added seven points, with Preslie Bradley scoring four.

Lucy Tessnair and Kendall Taylor each added two points for the Wolverines.
