Brevard JV girls hold off late Polk County rally

Brevard held off a Polk County rally on Thursday, hanging on for a 28-19 victory over the Wolverines in junior varsity girls basketball play at Polk.

The Wolverines end their regular season with a 1-7 record.

Polk’s scoreless second quarter enabled Brevard to pull away and take a 12-4 halftime lead. But the Wolverines battled back in the second half, eventually pulling within two at 18-16.

But Brevard scored five quick points to rebuild the lead to seven, then kept the Wolverines at bay the rest of the evening.

Raney Tallon had 10 points to lead Polk County, with Beija Olivari adding eight and Jeri Allen scoring one.
