A stingy Hendersonville defense kept Polk County in check Tuesday en route to a 42-25 victory over the Wolverines in junior varsity girls basketball action in Hendersonville.

The Bearcats (3-5) held the Wolverines (1-6) to just 14 points in the first three quarters, building a 26-14 advantage. Polk found offensive rhythm in the fourth period and scored 11 points, but Hendersonville was able to preserve its lead until the final whistle.

Cate Brown scored 16 points to pace the Wolverines, with Raney Tallon scoring six. Jeri Allen added two points and Louisa Wood scored one.
