Wolverine golf team gets first look at WHC foes

The Polk County girls golf team continued to build momentum Thursday at Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club, posting a solid team performance in Western Highlands Conference action.

Led by Addie Buss’ round of 59, the Wolverines demonstrated steady improvement as they work toward peak form. Buss paced Polk County’s effort, followed by consistent rounds from Sofie Abrahamsen (61) and Chloe McGill (63), giving the team a combined score of 183.

Avery captured the team title with a strong showing of 129, powered by outstanding individual performances. Sydney Kulhan and Molly Forbes both carded 42s, while teammate Kendall Kulhan added a 45. Mountain Heritage’s Mallie Buchanan claimed medalist honors with a round of 41.

Mountain Heritage finished second at 150, followed by Owen at 173. Final team scores for Mitchell and Hendersonville were not available.

The Wolverines will have another opportunity to showcase their play Monday when they travel to Black Mountain Golf Course to face the complete Western Highlands Conference field.
