Polk girls snare second in WHC match at Bright’s Creek

Polk County finished second in the Western Highlands Conference girls golf match Thursday at Bright’s Creek Golf Course, shooting 163 as a team.

The Wolverines placed behind Avery, which won the match with a score of 129. Mitchell finished third with a 172.

Sydney Kulhan of Avery claimed medalist honors with a 40, followed by teammate Molly Forbes at 43. Mountain Heritage’s Mallie Buchanan shot 44 for third place, with Avery’s Karlie Calhoun (46) and Erika Ralston (47) rounding out the top five individual finishers.

Polk County was paced by Charley Dusenbury, who carded a 50. Addie Buss added a 54, while Reeve Carroll shot 59. Chloe McGill contributed a 62 and Sofie Abrahamsen rounded out the Wolverines’ scoring with a 63.

Hendersonville, Mountain Heritage and Owen were unable to field complete teams for the match.
