Kropp finishes state tournament with closing round of 112

Polk County’s Ashley Kropp finished her 2A/1A state tournament experience Tuesday with a round of 112 for a two-day total of 228 in competition held at the Longleaf Golf & Country Club in Southern Pines.

Elkin’s Annika Winebarger fired a second-round 77 to capture the overal title with a two-day score of 151. Winebarger finished three shots ahead of teammate Mary Frances Hall and Salisbury’s Isabella Rusher.

Avery’s Paige Church was the top area finisher with a two-day total of 168.

Salisbury won the team competition with a dominating 57-stroke win over Croatan, posting a two-day score of 474. Elkin placed third, followed by Hendersonville and Gray Stone Day.
