Growing PCHS girls golf squad tackles 2013 season

Able to field a full starting lineup, with some extra help, is a welcome luxury this season for Polk County head girls golf coach Ty Stott.

“The number of girls playing is up,” Stott said. “We have six golfers on the team.”

With last week’s match at Red Fox Country Club cancelled by lightning, the Wolverines are only two matches into the season. But Stott is encouraged by what he’s seen thus far.

“The team has met my expectations so far,” Stott said. “Ashley Kropp and Caitlin Brittian should lead the team and be capable of scoring in the low to mid 40s consistently.”

Kropp has been the team’s top scorer thus far this season with a 52 average

“The keys for the rest of the season are for the girls to keep practicing and learning,” Stott said.
