Polk County Volleyball Club squads continued their successful 2018 season on Saturday, taking part in the SAVL Mizuno Challenge.

The 12U squad competed in Spartanburg, going 2-2 for the day. The team finished 2-1 in pool play, advancing to the Silver Bracket, where it dropped a tough 26-24, 25-20 decision to Lake Norman 12 Plus.

The 15U team competed in Columbia, going 3-1 on the day. PCVC swept its three matches in pool play, dropping just one set, before falling 25-18, 22-25, 15-9 to KVC 16 in the opening round of the Gold Bracket. KVC 16 went on to win the tournament.

The PCVC 17u squad competed in the 17/18 bracket in Spartanburg, finishing 2-2 on the day.

PCVC went 2-1 in pool play and earned a spot in the Gold Bracket, where it dropped a 25-21, 25-22 decision to eventual tournament champion Lanier 16-1 Mary Beth of Gainesville, Ga.

PCVC’s 12U and 13U squads are scheduled to be in action next on Feb. 24-25, competing in tournaments in Greenville and Hendersonville, respectively. All four PCVC squads will then compete in tournament action on March 10.
