Polk County High School’s varsity cheerleading squad earned second place Saturday at the Universal Cheerleading Association’s Carolina Classic Championship in Greensboro.

The Wolverines finished behind West Columbus in their division at just their second competition.

“So proud of all the work the girls have put into starting Polk’s competitive team,” said cheerleading coach Elisa Flynn. “Every competition I see improvement, and in the first year, that is all you can ask for.”

Polk County will compete Dec. 7 in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Cheer Invitational in Raleigh.
