Apple Valley wasted no time Thursday showing why the Knights are undefeated, striking on its first offensive play and never looking back en route to a 38-6 victory over Polk County Middle in Blue Ridge Conference action.
The Knights (4-0) showcased their explosive offense immediately, connecting on a 49-yard touchdown pass on their opening play from scrimmage. The aggressive tone continued as Apple Valley successfully recovered the ensuing onside kick, quickly converting that possession into another score to build a 16-0 advantage with 4:42 remaining in the first quarter.
Polk Middle (2-2) struggled to find its footing early, with a costly fumble early in the second quarter leading to another Knights touchdown that pushed the margin to 24-0.

The Wolverines showed signs of life midway through the second quarter when quarterback Zayvin Cunningham connected with Matthew Sokil on what would prove to be their lone score of the evening. Sokil turned a short reception into an electric 52-yard touchdown, breaking multiple tackles and navigating through the Knights’ defense to cut the deficit to 24-6 with 5:27 left before halftime.
But Apple Valley’s defense clamped down from there, keeping Polk County off the scoreboard for the remainder of the contest while adding insurance touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the 38-6 final margin.
The Wolverines will look to bounce back next Thursday as they host Flat Rock Middle at Utz Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
