Polk County’s junior varsity committed four turnovers Thursday night, helping Asheville post a 46-6 victory in the season opener for the Wolverines in Asheville.
Zane Johnson scored the lone touchdown for the Wolverines (0-1), who suffered two fumbles and a pair of interceptions. Polk County drove 80 yards, taking some seven minutes off the clock, en route to Johnson’s score.
“We did some good things,” said Polk County head coach Ethan Edwards. “(We) made several key mistakes on special teams and did not convert on third down as much as we’d like.”
Polk County’s JVs make their home debut next week, hosting R-S Central on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Wolverine Stadium.
