Polk County senior wide receiver Antonio Simpson added to his growing list of accolades Friday, surpassing the 2,000-yard mark in receiving yards for his career.
Simpson accomplished the milestone on a 32-yard pass reception in the second quarter of the 57-12 win over Patton. He finished the night with four catches for 104 yards and a touchdown and also returned an interception 36 yards for another score.
For his Polk County career, Simpson currently has 109 receptions for 2,049 yards. He is now considered the school record holder for career receiving yards, and his reception total is just 34 short of matching Richard McEntyre’s school best of 143 catches.
