
Polk Middle runs to 40-0 victory at Flat Rock
Polk County Middle ran its way to a victory Thursday.
Zach McCraw and Styler Blackwell combined to rush for more than 300 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Wolverines to a 40-0 victory at Flat Rock.
Polk Middle improved to 4-0, with a key Blue Ridge Conference clash next Thursday at Rugby.
McCraw, who finished with 195 yards rushing on eight carries, opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 19-yard touchdown run. Sawyer Huff added the first of his five 2-point conversions for an 8-0 lead.
McCraw then scored on a six-yard run in the second quarter, helping boost Polk’s lead to 16-0, which also stood as the halftime score.
Then it became Blackwell’s turn to shine. On the first play of the third period, he raced 55 yards for a score, upping the lead to 24-0. On the Wolverines’ next offensive snap, Blackwell unleashed an 89-yard touchdown run, giving Polk a 32-0 lead midway through the third quarter.
Blackwell finished with 169 yards rushing on six carries.
McCraw then closed the scoring with a 70-yard touchdown dash early in the fourth quarter, with Huff adding his fifth 2-point effort for the final margin.
