
McEntyre, Polk Middle defense star in big win at Apple Valley

The Polk County Middle eighth grader rushed for 363 yards and five touchdowns Thursday to lead the Wolverines to a 44-8 win over Apple Valley in Hendersonville.

McEntyre put together his big game on just 15 carries. He had 297 yards and four touchdowns in 11 carries in the first half, scoring on runs of 61, 20, 57 and 89 yards as Polk Middle (1-1) built a 28-8 lead at the break.
McEntyre’s first carry in the second half went for 64 yards and another score, boosting the Wolverines’ lead to 36-8.
A 70-yard pass from Gunnar Alm to Aaron Jackson set up Polk Middle’s final touchdown, a 15-yard run by Lorenzo Sanchez.
Polk Middle converted four 2-point conversions during the game, with McEntyre and Sanchez each scoring on rushes and Alm throwing for a pair of conversions.
