Big plays help push Hendersonville JVs past Polk County
A trio of big plays Thursday helped propel Hendersonville to a 28-6 victory over Polk County in a junior varsity football matchup at G.M. Tennant Stadium.
The meeting marked the start of the delayed 2020 football season for both teams and the first game in Tennant Stadium since November 2019.
The Bearcats had touchdown passes of 58 and 59 yards in building a 16-6 lead at halftime. Polk County’s score capped a lengthy drive and came on Lawson Carter’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Jones.
Hendersonville added a 66-yard punt return for a score in the third quarter and closed the scoring in the fourth period with a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Polk County will return to action next Thursday at East Rutherford.
