Polk Middle's Hollis Williams fights off an Apple Valley tackler during the first half of Thursday's game

A first-play fumble Thursday signalled the type of afternoon it would be for Polk County Middle.

Apple Valley turned that miscue into early points and went on to record a 36-0 victory over the Wolverines in a Blue Ridge Conference matchup at Utz Field.

The Knights improved to 3-0 and have now outscored opponents 102-14 this season. The Wolverines dropped to 0-3.

A second Polk Middle fumbled led to Apple Valley’s second score, and a bad snap on a fourth-down play late in the second quarter led to a short scoring drive and a 22-0 advantage for the Knights.

Apple Valley added two second-half touchdowns to account for the final margin.

Polk Middle will continue its three-game homestand next Thursday as Flat Rock visits Utz Field for a 5 p.m. encounter.
