Polk County's Davis Young and Charlie Keller

Polk County cross country teams competed against teams from across the state Saturday at the 39th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational 2023, held at Hagan Stone Park in Pleasant Garden.

The meet is annually a large one and features middle school, high school and college competitions.

The Wolverines competed after a busy week of training and were missing a few runners due to injuries and illness. Davis Young led the Polk boys with a 37th-place effort, finishing the course in a time of 18:02.32.

Blake Anderson joined the team for the first time and posted a time of 18:30.32 to take 57th in his debut meet.

Polk County runners are set to resume racing on Tuesday, traveling to R-S Central for the Armentrout Invitational.
