Polk County's Olivia Overholt races past the PCHS farm during Monday's four-team race on the school grounds.

Polk County’s cross country teams each placed third Monday in a four-team meet held on the PCHS campus.

The Wolverine girls totalled 68 points to finish behind Owen (33) and R-S Central (48). Polk County did finish with three of the top eight runners and topped Mitchell (93).

The Polk County boys placed behind R-S Central (31) and Owen (33) with 76 points. Mitchell finished fourth with 101 points.

Senior Emma Brunell led the Polk girls, finishing fourth with a time of 22:33 on the hilly course that winds throughout the campus. Olivia Overholt followed in fifth in 23:09.80 while Taytem Johnson raced home in eighth at 23:56.10.

Kayla Kitchen took 22nd with a time of 29:16.70, followed by Ashley Alonso-Mejia (24th, 31:05.00) and Chloe Patterson (26th, 34:48.90).

Owen’s Hannah Larios won the girls race with a time of 21:04.40, followed by R-S Central’s Brooke Hope (22:18.90) and Gracey Lane (22:31.90).

Mark Teague paced the Wolverine boys, placing fourth with a time of 18:24.10. Tristan Devine followed in 16th at 21:02.40, with Braxton Edwards 17th in 21:03.20, Chris Rickman 19th in 22:11.20 and Addison Broyles 20th in 22:50.50. Jalyn Thomas came home 22nd with a time of 24:42.10.

R-S Central senior Christopher Upton dominated the boys race, posting a time of 16:27.40 to finish almost two minutes ahead of teammate Van Robbins. Owen’s Elijah Jones placed third.

The Wolverines are scheduled to return to racing on Saturday, competing in the R-S Saturday Brunch #1 at R-S Central.
