Polk Middle opens cross country season with Apple Valley meet

Polk County Middle School opened its cross country season on Tuesday in a nine-school meet at Apple Valley Middle School.

Head coach Cathy Elliott and her squad only began practice last week, and Elliott expects the team to steadily improve as the season progresses.

The Polk boys finished seventh on Tuesday, led by Zach Lambert, who placed 13th out of 85 runners.

The Wolverine girls finished ninth, led by Nicole Mott.

Polk County Middle will host its next meet, a handful of Blue Ridge Middle School Conference teams coming to Polk Middle on September 9 to compete in a 4:30 p.m. meet.
