Polk County Middle School’s cross country teams recently wrapped up their 2015 seasons with solid showings at the Blue Ridge Middle School Conference meet at Western Carolina University.

Led by all-conference performer Julia Griffin, the Polk County girls placed fifth in the conference meet. The Polk boys were led by Evan Dadson and finished seventh.

Griffin had the best finish by any seventh grader in the girls race. Of the seven Polk County runners in the girls race, all but Amelia Nespera were seventh graders.

The teams competed on a two-mile course at WCU.

“This year’s cross country worked hard all season through colds and mild injuries,” said PCMS head coach Cathy Elliott. “I am very proud of how they finished the season and look forward to next year.”
