Polk County medalists Davis Young, Karsyn Huskey and Jalyn Thomas

Polk County’s boys cross country team took fourth Tuesday in the nine-team Armentrout Invitational held at R-S Central.

On an extremely warm October afternoon, Davis Young’s sixth-place effort led the Wolverines, who finished with 122 points behind Owen (40), Shelby (64) and Avery (114). Jalyn Thomas raced to a 15th-place showing in a time of 19:46.30.

The Wolverines finished ahead of Mountain Foothills 7 Conference schools Patton, Chase and R-S Central in the event.

The Polk girls did not field a full team, but Karsyn Huskey raced to a third-place effort, her time of 22:26.20 trailing only Patton’s Charlotte Rigsbee and East Rutherford’s Dyalla Abuzir.

Owen’s girls also won the team event, followed bt East Rutherford and Avery.
