Polk County’s boys cross country team raced to a narrow win Tuesday at The Farm Invitational 2023 at Chase High School in Forest City.

Davis Young and Jayln Thomas delivered a 1-2 finish to help the Wolverines record a one-point team win over Chase. McDowell placed third in the event, which included runners from six schools tackling the difficult Chase course.

Polk’s Karsyn Huskey raced to a third-place finish to pace the Wolverine girls.

Young completed the course in a time of 19:05.42, with Thomas soon following in 19:05.66. Phillip Teague added a sixth-place effort in 21:09.91 and Jordy Rojas-Argate crossed the line in 22:10.58.

Austin Shipman then delivered what proved to be the key finish, his time of 24:58.27 good for 19th place just ahead of a Chase runner.

Kingston White (26:41.28) came home 24th, with Cannon Iamurri (28:25.91) in 40th overall and Ardon Malan (29:38.07) in 33rd.

Huskey’s time of 25:05.78 trailed only East Rutherford’s Dyalla Abuzir and McDowell’s Elyse Foster. Polk’s Kendra Kitchen took 21st with a time of 34:13.30.
