
Polk County senior Olivia Overholt had a pretty good 24 hours this past weekend.
Overholt was named Polk County’s 2021 Homecoming Queen during Friday’s football game with R-S Central. She then won her division of the Hagen Stone XC Invitational on Saturday in Pleasant Garden.
Overholt finished first in 20:39.97, easily outdistancing runner-up Lilly Clemmons of Walter Williams, who finished in 21:00.62.
Polk County’s Tori Thompson placed 27th in the field of 103 runners with a time of 23:33.71.
The Wolverine boys also enjoyed a good meet, placing fifth in the 20-team competition. Green Hope’s boys won the meet.
Braxton Edwards led the Wolverines with a 13th-place showing in a time of 18:37.29, followed closely by Mark Teague in 15th with a time of 18:42.86. All five of Polk’s remaining runners set personal records at the meet.
Polk County is slated to compete Wednesday in the Armentrout Invitational at R-S Central.
