Overholt once again Blue Ridge Conference cross country champ

Polk County Middle’s Olivia Overholt won her second straight Blue Ridge Conference cross country title on Tuesday during the BRC postseason meet in Franklin.

Overholt completed the course in a time of 13.36.90, finishing 22 seconds ahead of runner-up Hannah Grace Casey of Brevard Middle.

Polk Middle placed seventh in the team standings, a finish that excited first-year head coach Katie Elliott.

“I am excited for the coming years because four of our top seven runners were sixth graders,” Elliott said. “They show a lot of promise as a team for the years to come.

“Overall it was a great first cross country season for me as a coach.”

Rugby captured the girls title, with Brevard Middle and Waynesville Middle rounding out the top three.

Polk Middle’s boys team placed 11th in the competition, led by Collier Foster’s 15:31.30. Also competing for the Wolverines were:
