Polk County Middle’s Olivia Overholt won her second straight Blue Ridge Conference cross country title on Tuesday during the BRC postseason meet in Franklin.

Overholt completed the course in a time of 13.36.90, finishing 22 seconds ahead of runner-up Hannah Grace Casey of Brevard Middle.

Polk Middle placed seventh in the team standings, a finish that excited first-year head coach Katie Elliott.

“I am excited for the coming years because four of our top seven runners were sixth graders,” Elliott said. “They show a lot of promise as a team for the years to come.

“Overall it was a great first cross country season for me as a coach.”
