
Polk County’s Karsyn Huskey raced to a second-place finish Tuesday at the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Championship cross country meet in Brevard.
Huskey completed the course in 20:57, trailing only R-S Central’s Brooke Hope, who finished in 20:32.
The Wolverine boys had two top-10 finishers, earning all-conference honors, with Davis Young taking sixth in 17:44 and Jayln Thomas finishing 10th in 18:14.
Polk County’s boys placed fourth in the team standings, trailing Brevard, which had runners finish 1-4, Hendersonville and Patton.
Brevard’s girls also won the team title, placing ahead of Hendersonville and East Rutherford.
Polk runners will now begin preparations for the 1A West Regional, set for October 28 at Kituwah Mound in Bryson City.
