Polk County freshman India Godlock narrowly missed earning all-state honors, but recorded a personal best time in Saturday’s 2A state championship cross country meet in Kernersville.
Godlock ran a time of 19:41.21 to place 11th in the field. The top 10 runners earn a spot on the all-state team. West Stokes’ Kaitlyn Stone earned that 10th spot with a time of 19:31.80.
Carrboro’s Maysa Araba won the 2A girls title with a time of 18:03.66. East Lincoln nipped Croatan and Carrboro by three points to win the team title.
In the boys race, Polk County sophomore Sean Doyle placed 21st, finishing in a time of 17:02.17, while senior Jacob Collins placed 29th, finishing in 17:14.92 in his final race as a Wolverine.
Maiden’s Corbin Boyles won the 2A individual title with a time of 15:54.86, with North Carolina School of Science and Math winning the 2A team title.
