Polk County’s boys placed ninth Saturday out of 33 teams in the Freedom Invitational in Morganton.
The Wolverine girls, minus several runners including standout India Godlock, placed 20th.
Sean Doyle placed 12th with a time of 17:34.73 in the boys invitational class, won by Mitchell’s Zach Boone with a time of 16:00.11. Boone finished more than a minute ahead of the field.
Mitchell Brown placed 36th with a time of 18:39.46. Also competing for the Wolverines were Mark Federman (19:13.98), Jacob Wolfe (19:47.56) and Eli Hall (20:12.61).
For the Wolverine girls, Shelby Wells placed 103rd with a time of 24:43.46. Also competing for the Wolverines were Selena Chavez (24:59.89), Allison Swope (25:10.38), Savannah Robbins (25:14.19), Ashton Capozzi (25:21.41), Leah Hardin (26:47.66) and Colleen Burke (28:57.28).
In the Boys A race, Connor Holtz placed 33rd with a time of 21:49.60 and Luke Collins posted a time of 27:42.46. In the Girls A race, Sophie Young took 27th in 26:55.82 and Karli Wood 28th in 26:58.70. Also competing were Haven Dufford (27:35.70) and Jessica Bailey (31:42.59).
