Former Polk County standout Joel Booker has been promoted to the Chicago White Sox’ rookie league team in Great Falls, Montana.
The White Sox announced Thursday that Booker had been assigned to the Great Falls Voyagers in the Pioneer League, promoted from his spot with the AZL White Sox in the Arizona League.
Booker is listed in the starting lineup for Great Falls in its Thursday home game with Idaho Falls, batting leadoff and playing center field. Audio of the game can be header at http://www.gfvoyagers.com.
Booker leaves Arizona as the league leader in stolen bases, having swiped 26 bases in 27 attempts, and the leader in runs scored. In 33 games, Booker hit .296, 20th in the league, and is also in the top 20 in doubles (8), RBI (18) and on-base percentage (.387). Booker committed just one error in th3 33 games.
Great Falls enters Thursday’s game with a 1-2 record in the second half of the Pioneer League season. The Voyagers posted a 21-17 mark in the first half.
