Weekend college roundup: Overholt scores in Brevard loss

– Andre Overholt ran for 42 yards and a touchdown on eight carries in the Tornados’ 41-14 loss at Carson-Newman. Overholt also had 115 yards on five kickoff returns.

– Jordan Ollis ran for 32 yards on nine carries and caught one pass for 10 yards for Brevard.

– Juan Hicks had a single carry for four yards.

– Cary Littlejohn had a tackle in Catawba’s 27-0 loss to Newberry

– Tyler Philpott started at left guard for Western Carolina in its 30-23 win over Mars Hill. For the Lions, Zach Searcy saw action in the offensive line.

– John Spencer Wolfe placed 19th overall as North Carolina State’s mens cross country team opened its season Friday with the Wolfpack Invitational at the WakeMed Cross Country Course in Cary. Wolfe finished with a time of 15:36.6

– Dylan Jones had a team-best 76 and finished third overall as Montreat College men’s golf team competed in an eight-team tournament in Knoxville, Tenn. Montreat placed fifth in the event.
