Sizemore gymnasts compete in AAU West qualifier

A group of gymnasts from Sizemore Gymnastics Academy in Tryon competed on March 25-26 in the North Carolina AAU West qualifier at Lake Norman YMCA in Cornelius.

Neysah Engle, Collins Kerr and Josephine Wallace represented SGA at the AAU Xcel Bronze level. Kendall Medina, Aria Springs, Alia Vorbe and Emma Whitehurst represented SGA at the AAU Xcel Silver level. Genevieve Ard and ScottLynn Whiteside participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level while Sherlyn Trejo and Kylie Whitinger competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

For SGA’s Bronze team, Engle achieved 36.075 from her 9.25 on beam, second on vault with 9.2 and 9.05 on bars. Kerr earned first all-around in her division from her 36.225 from her first on bars with 9.425, first on beam with 9.15 and second on vault with 9.0. Wallace received 35.875 all-around from her 9.175 on beam, 9.05 on vault and 8.9 on floor.

For SGA’s Silver team, Medina received second all-around in her division with 35.45 from her first on vault with 9.5, second on beam with 9.075 and 8.6 on bars. Springs earned first all-around in her division with 35.875 from her first on beam with 9.25, second on bars with 9.05, and second on vault with 9.05. Vorbe achieved fourth all-around with 36.95 from her tie on floor for first place with 9.325, tie for second on beam with 9.325, third on bars with 9.3 and 9.0 on vault. Whitehurst received third place in her division with 35.6 all-around from her third on bars with 9.25, first on vault with 9.2, 8.675 on floor and third place on beam with 8.475.

For SGA Gold, Ard received fourth in her division with 36.60 from her 9.25 on vault, 9.175 on beam and second on bars with 9.1. Whiteside earned second in her division with 36.5 from her first on beam with 9.575, tie for second on floor with 9.076 and tie for second on vault with 9.05.

For Xcel Platinum, Trejo received second all-around in her division with 36.925 all-around from her first on beam with 9.475, tie for first on vault with 9.2, 9.25 on floor and 9.0 on bars. Whitinger earned 34.25 all-around from her 9.175 on beam, 8.65 on vault and 8.375 on floor.
