A pair of Polk County teens braved Sunday’s scorching temperatures to compete in the Jace’s Journey Track Invitational at Mountain Island Charter School in Gastonia.

Chan Barber took part in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:10.83 to finish sixth in the event.

Braxton Edwards notched a time of 55.18 in the 400 meters and placed 14th in the competition.

DIRT TRACK RACING
A pair of local drivers earned top-three finishes in action at Travelers Rest Speedway.

Rising Polk County High School freshman Jake Jackson won his heat and finished second in the SECA Crate Sportsman A Feature while Tryon’s Blayde Edwards earned third in the Thunder Bomber Future A Feature.
