Polk County’s two 9-10 baseball teams spent Sunday battling each other in the championnship game of the Landrum Youth Association’s preseason tournament.

Two hard-fought games were required to determine a champion, with Team Mauldin eventually edging Team Jackson to win the tournament.

“There is a lot of good talent on both teams,” said Jaris Reynolds, who helps coach Team Jackson. “They played with class and good sportsmanship. These players will be great teammates, and baseball fans should be proud of their achievements and be looking forward to a future middle school team that will be talented and fun to watch.”
