Polk County Hunter Skills team sets organizational meeting for Sept. 17

The Polk County Hunter Skills team will hold a meeting on Sept. 17 for any students interested in joining its program.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the clubhouse of the Polk County Gun Club, located at 1243 Little Mountain Road in Columbus.

The Hunter Skills team is open to any Polk County Middle School or Polk County High School student. Team members are required to maintain satisfactory grades and complete the North Carolina Wildlife Hunter Education certtification program.

Team members learn to compete in one of four disciplines – orienteering, shotgun, archery and rifle. All events are held under the guidance and rules of the North Carolina Wildlife Hunter Safety Program.
