Polk Bass Fishing hauls in another top-10 finish

Polk County High Bass Fishing placed seventh Saturday in a field of more than 60 teams in the Palmetto Boat Center High School Tournament Trail event at Lake Murray.

Polk County’s team of Chan Barber and Banks Barber caught five fish weighing a total of 15.48 pounds.

The Barbers avoided near-disaster when their boat motor battery died during the competition. A nearby homeowner, Daniel Keels, saw the team in distress and lent them a battery, allowing Polk to complete its day.

Crescent High’s team of Luke McGuffin and Kalen Butts won the event with a five-fish weight of 20.52 pounds.

The next PBC event is set for March 19 at Lake Hartwell.
