Members of Polk County Volleyball Club’s 16U squad may well circle the Dixie Classic on their calendars every spring.

The group won the event as 13-year-old, then 14-year-olds and 15-year-old. On Sunday, they made it a four-peat, capturing the 16 Club championship in the 23-team field competing in Spartanburg.

PCVC 16U dropped just one set in its six matches and captured the championship with a 26-24, 26-24 victory over Carolina Union Volleyball Club of Charlotte. 16U team members include Rachael Davis, Emmie McDowell, Marissa Twitty, Marilyn Castillo, Kristen Hall and Rollins Carter. Donna Hall and Alex Romano coach the team.

PCVC’s success at the Dixie Classic didn’t end there. The 13/14U squad captured the Silver bracket championship, finishing 6th overall out of 20 teams.

PCVC finished 5-2 for the tournament. The team earned the Silver title with a 14-25, 25-13, 15-13 victory over C4 Volleyball Club’s 14U Chelsea team from Holly Hill, S.C.

PCVC’s 17U team finished tied for 4th out of 17 teams, winning its first four matches in the tournament before dropping a 25-20, 25-14 decision to North Georgia Aces 17-1 from Clarkesville, Ga.

PCVC’s teams will be in action the weekend of March 30-31, competing in the Southeast Alliance Volleyball League Championships. Those matches will be held in Spartanburg and Hendersonville.
