PCVC teams battle at SAVL Alliance Champions Weekend

A pair of Polk County Volleyball Club teams competed Feb. 27-28 in the Southeast Alliance Volleyball League’s Alliance Champions Weekend in Spartanburg.

PCVC’s 15U Savannah squad took 12th, finishing 2-3 for the weekend.

PCVC 15U dropped its first two matches in pool play, both decided in three sets with a close third set, before ending pool play with a 25-17, 25-16 win over GSJ 15 Regional MB.

PCVC earned a berth in the Bronze bracket, where they posted a 25-12, 25-6 rout of Upward Stars 15 Katie before falling 25-23, 25-16 to SRS 15 Blue in the championship match of the Bronze bracket.

PCVC’s 14U Amber team finished 17th, going 2-4 for the weekend. The 14U squad finished 0-3 in pool play, then wonn their first two matches in the Copper bracket, defeating 14 Armour Wave and Champion 14 Silver, each in straight sets.

That put PCVC in the Copper championship match, where the team dropped a tough three-set decision to Carolina Cobras.
