
PCVC squads enjoy successful showing at SAVL Champion Challenge
Polk County Volleyball Club squads delivered successful performances Saturday in tournament action in South Carolina.
Both PCVC’s 14U and 13U Molly teams took part in the 14 Club division of the Southeast Alliance Volleyball League’s Champion Challenge in Spartanburg. The 14U team finished third in the 27-team field, reaching the Gold semifinals before falling 25-15, 25-21 to Sports Academy HEAT 14 of Statesville.
Playing up an age level, PCVC 13U Molly also finished 3-1, winning the Bronze bracket. The squad defeated Savannah River Select 14 Red 15-10, 25-6 in the Bronze final. SRS 14 is based in Graniteville, S.C., near Aiken.

The 15U squad, competing in the Champion Challenge in Columbia, placed fifth, going 2-2 for the day. The squad qualified for the Gold bracket, but dropped a 22-25, 25-22, 15-10 decision to Savannah River Select 15 Red in the Gold opener.
PCVC’s 17U team made its season debut, placing fifth in the Champion Challenge in Spartanburg. The 17U team finished 2-2, qualifying for the Gold bracket. 17U dropped a 24-26, 25-23, 15-12 decision to Upward Stars 18 BC in the Gold opener.
PCVC’x 17U squad is slated to be back in action on Feb. 15-16, taking part in the AAU Grand Prix in Charlotte. The 13U Molly, 14U and 15U teams will next compete on Feb. 22-23 in the SAVL Alliance Club tournament in Spartanburg.
