Polk County Volleyball Club’s 16 Shawn squad earned top honors in the Silver bracket on Sunday at the Liberty Classic Junior Volleyball Association Challenge Series Event in Spartanburg.

PCVC finished with a 5-1 record in the 28-team event. The team’s only loss came in its opening match in pool play, a 25-19, 25-15 setback to 575 Volleyball Club 16 National team from Woodstock, Ga.

PCVC finished 2-1 in pool play and earned a berth in the Silver bracket, where the team won three more matches. PCVC capped its weekend with a 25-14, 25-23 victory over Carolina Union Volleyball Club 16 IT Dani to take the Silver title.

Champion Volleyball Club 16 of Winston-Salem won the division. Only two other teams in the field won five matches during the weekend.

Team members competing in the tourney included Zaelea Eller, Hayden Blackwell, Charley Dusenbury, Reeve Carroll, Ada Kelley, Kylie Lewis and Junie Mitchell. The team is coached by Shawn Corhn.
