PCVC Blue battles to fifth-place in Charlotte tourney

Polk County Volleyball Club’s Blue squad battled to a fifth-place finish this weekend in the 2019 Charlotte AAU Grand Prix at Carolina Union Volleyball Club.

PCVC Blue, comprised of players from the team’s 16U and 17U teams, finished 2-3 against a talented field. Winning the event was Twin City Volleyball Academy from the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area, featuring eight players who have already made college commitments.

PCVC Blue finished pool play 1-1, then defeated Panhandle Boomers 18U 25-20, 25-16 on Saturday to move into the Gold bracket. PCVC opened play on Sunday with a tough 25-16, 21-25, 15-13 loss to CUVC 18 Blue, one of the host teams, of Charlotte.

Another CUVC squad, CUVC 17 Premier, then handed PCVC a 25-13, 25-22 setback in the fourth-place match.

PCVC has a busy weekend ahead with its 14U squad also competing in the Charlotte AAU Grand Prix while its 12U and 13U teams take part in the Southeast Alliance Volleyball League Alliance Classic in Spartanburg.
