PCVC 14U team opens play in national championship tourney

Polk County Volleyball Club’s 14U team opened play Monday in the 46th Annual AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Fla.

Polk County Volleyball Club’s 14U team opened play Monday in the 46th Annual AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships in Orlando, Fla.

Facing a field comprised of some of the top clubs in the nation, PCVC suffered a pair of tough three-set losses, falling 13-25, 25-21, 15-12 to Grand Park Explosion of Indianapolis, Ind. in its opening match and 25-20, 21-25, 17-15 to Cape Coral Fear Volleyball of Cape Coral, Fla. in its final match of the day.

PCVC also fell 25-19, 25-14 to South Carolina-based Palmetto Elite 14 of Greenwood.

PCVC is scheduled to play three more matches on Tuesday afternoon and evening, facing Capital Volleyball Club 13 Navy from Bismarck, N.D., Laniaki Athletic Club 14 of Kallua, Hawaii and UNO 14 National of Joliet, Ill.

PCVC’s 16U team will also compete next week in Orlando.
