Polk County rising junior Alana Jergenson helped lead South Carolina Elite National 16U to a third-place finish in the recent TC/USA Nationals softball tournament in Atlanta.

The Carolina Elite squad, based in Greenville, battled through a field of 50 teams to reach the semifinals of the event before dropping a 10-8 decision to Glory Adkins Lock 2021. The eight-inning game lasted more than three hours.

Glory Adkins went on to fall 2-0 to East Cobb Bullets in the championship game.

Jergenson began competition Sunday with Carolina Elite in the USA Softball Junior Olympic Cup in Spartanburg.
