Foothills gymnasts notch high marks at Gymnast Strong Invitational

Gymnasts from Foothills Gymnastics Academy delivered another excellent showing at the Gymnast Strong Invitational held February 19 in Greenville.

ScottLynn Whiteside represented FGA at the Xcel Bronze level and Genevieve Ard at the Xcel Silver level. Zina Ishwar, Anna-Carlisle Keim, Hallee Mathis and Sherlyn Trejo competed at the Xcel Gold level.

Whiteside improved her bar score by a half a point to 9.3 and scored 9.1 on vault and 9.025 on beam for an all-around of 36.375. Ard earned first on bars with 9.625, second vault with 9.6, 9.0 on beam and 9.0 on floor for second place all-around with 37.225.

FGA’s Xcel Gold team won third place with 112.125. Mathis improved her all-around to 36.1 for third place all-around in her age level division. She received second on vault with 9.125, third on bar with 9.15 and third on beam.

Ishwar earned 36.975 all-around from her third on vault with 9.475, third on beam with 9.375, 9.125 on bars and 9.0 on floor. Keim received 37.275 all-around from first on bars with 9.625, second on vault with 9.55, and second on floor with 9.45.

Trejo placed second in her level for her age group with 37.525 all around from her first on bar with 9.525, second on floor with 9.425, second on beam with 9.475 and tied for third on vault with 9.1.

Due to COVID precautions, the medals were given to coaches and distributed in their home gym.

FGA gymnasts compete next on Friday at the Coastal Classic in Myrtle Beach.
