Foothills gymnasts fill winners’ podiums at Light It Up meet

Gymnasts from Foothills Gymnastics Academy again delivered winning performances during the Light it Up Classic on Jan. 31 in Salisbury.

ScottLynn Whiteside represented FGA at the Xcel Bronze level and Genevieve Ard at the Xcel Silver level. Zina Ishwar, Anna-Carlisle Keim, Hallee Mathis, Eliza Then and Sherlyn Trejo competed at the Xcel Gold level.

Whitesite earned 36.15 all around with her third on bars with 9.4 and third on beam with 9.15 while raising her floor score .35 from last competition to 9.2.

Ard brought home first place in her age level with 36.95 all-around, her highest on bar this season with a 9.55, second on vault with 9.25 and third on floor with 9.1.

FGA’s Xcel Gold team won second place with gymnasts in first, second and third.

Mathis continues to demonstrate her perseverance and growth by improving her all-around over a point to 35.45, moving her up to third place all-around. She tied for second on beam with a 9.15 and tied for third on bars with an 8.9.

Ishwar earned third place in her level for her age with 36.00 all-around from her third on beam with 9.1 and third on vault with 8.75.

Keim achieved second place in her age group with her 36.85 with first on vault with 9.2 and a tie for second on bars with 9.35.

Then earned first in her age group for her level with a 36.8 all-around from her first on vault with 9.3, first on beam with 9.2 and second on bars with 9.35.

Trejo placed first in her level for her age group with 37.2 all around from her first on floor with a 9.5, first on bars with a 9.5, tied for first on beam with 9.3 and second on vault with 8.9.

FGA’s coaches are proud as all the gymnasts continue to improve their skills while showing great team spirit of encouraging not only their team but also the other athletes.
